Corneal stromal overgrowth after cataract extraction.

چکیده

Corneal stromal overgrowth (retrocorneal membrane, fibrous overgrowth) is one of the common complications of penetrating keratoplasty (Kurz and D'Amico, I968). As a postoperative complication of cataract extraction leading to enucleation, however, it is less well recognized. Few case reports exist in the literature, and Duke-Elder (i969) fails to cite stromal overgrowth as a complication ofcataract extraction. Two striking examples of stromal overgrowth after cataract extraction will be reported: one after intracapsular and one after extracapsular surgery.
